How To Save Ebooks
In order to save an ebook, you first have to acquire it. And that generally begins with a download link.
NOTE: If you'd like to follow along, we're downloading and saving the free version of WebToolbox (opens in a new browser window so you don't lose this tutorial page).
Step by step, here's the entire process...
Step 1 - Click on the download link. [ If you're downloading a PDF ebook, right click the download link and select "Save Target As..." from the fly-out menu. Skip Step 2 and go directly to Step 3. ]
Step 2 - Click on "Save" in the File Download dialog box.
That brings up the "Save in:" window...
Step 3 - Click on the arrow to expose the dropdown menu.
Step 4 - Click on "My Documents".
That will show you a list of all the folders and files that are in the My Docments folder...
Step 5 - Right click any white area of the window.
Step 6 - Move your cursor over the top of the word "New" in that fly-out menu (don't click - just hover). This will reveal a second fly-out menu...
Step 7 - Click on the word "Folder" at the top of the second fly-out menu. This will place a new folder in the My Documents window.
Step 8 - Without clicking on anything, and using your keyboard, type the name you want for your new folder. In this example, we're using "downloads" (without the quotation marks).
Step 9 - Click on "Open" in the lower right-hand corner.
This will result in a downloads folder window...
Step 10 - Click on "Save" in the lower right-hand corner.
The ebook will now begin to download into the downloads folder...
Now your ebook is in the downloads folder...
Locating Your Ebook After You Save It
Open Windows Explorer (from the start menu or by holding down the Windows flag key and then pressing and releasing the "E" key).
In Windows Explorer, open the My Documents folder, then open the downloads folder. Double click on the WebToolbox name to open the ebook.
Zipped Ebooks
If you download and save an ebook and the file has a .zip extension, you need to open that zip file to get to the ebook inside. If you don't already have a zip program, you can check out one like Free Zip Wizard from CoffeeCup.com. Or you can simply conduct a Google search for "free zip program".
